The Undergraduate Foreign Language Test (UFLT) and
Foreign Language Achievement Test (FLAT)
The UFLT is taken by CU-Boulder students who wish to be exempt from the 3-semester College of Arts & Sciences foreign language requirement. (The College of Engineering and School of Business may also accept this test.) As of May 31st ,2013 Testing Services will no longer be offering the UFTL. All foreign language testing will be done through the FLATS starting June 1st, 2013.
Language tests in stock include French, German, and Spanish. Foreign Language Achievement Tests (FLATs) in 53 other languages are available by special order. No credit hours are granted from this test. NOTE: This test is not to be confused with the placement exam which is mandatory for all freshmen and transfer students related to course registration. UFLT exemption language tests cannot be used for placement purposes, nor can the placement exams be used for exemption purposes.

The UFLT tests will be given by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 303-492-5854. Test fee is $40.00 (check or credit card) for UFLT (French, German, and Spanish), payable at the time of the test.
Fees for FLATs tests that need to be ordered in are $50 (to order) + $30 (to administer) + $6 (Shipping) = $86.
