Test of English as Foreign Language – iBT (TOEFL)
The TOEFL-iBT Exam is taken by individuals whose native language is not English and who are applying for admission to colleges and universities in the U.S. Note that TOEFL is used for both undergraduate and graduate admission of international students at CU-Boulder.
The new, Internet-based TOEFL test was introduced in September 2005. The University of Colorado began administering this version of the test in February 2006. The CBT version is no longer available in the United States. A paper-based (PBT) version of the TOEFL is available in some states, but not in Colorado.
TOEFL-iBT assesses all four skills that are important for effective communication:
TOEFL-iBT is administered on fixed dates, mostly Fridays and Saturdays, approximately twice per month. For information about the dates, fees and locations, visit the TOEFL web site.
