Write Outstanding Admission/Application Essay(s),
CVs and/or Resumes

Most university departments will require one or more short essays as part of your application. One is usually an autobiographical statement in which you describe the development of your career goals, and a second often addresses the question of why you have chosen a particular department to which you are applying. It is important that these essays be excellent, although a strong essay probably will not do much to compensate for otherwise weak credentials, a bad essay can seriously hurt you. (Robert L. Peters, Getting What You Came For: The Smart Student's Guide to Earning an M.A. or a Ph.D.)

Consider working with a career counselor to improve your admission/application essay.
