Resumes, CVs, and Cover Letters
Looking for an internship, applying to graduate or professional school, or seeking employment? Resumes
and CVs are essential! Your resume's primary purpose is to get you an interview. When writing your resume,
include only what is relevant to the targeted job/position and avoid listing every job you've ever had.
Also, have a Career Counselor review your resume, too.
There is no one right way to write a resume; however, we do offer guidelines:
- Your resume must be a "rapid read". The average resume gets 10-15 seconds of initial attention.
- Clearly showcase your relevant accomplishments, experience, and skills.
For a valuable first impression to encourage the reader to consider your resume or CV, write a
cover letter! For ideas and directions on writing cover letters, see the web sites listed below.
