On-Campus Interviewing

In the spring and fall semesters, companies from all over the country come to CU-Boulder to interview our students and alumni. Their positions can be found in our Career Buffs job system under the ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEW SCHEDULES, and JOB SEARCH tab. On Campus Interviews in the Job Search section are identified with a little blue exclamation point near the Job ID. There are full time and internship positions listed.

For jobs tied to an on-campus interview schedule, you are expected to submit your resume through Career Buffs AND follow the application instructions listed in each position description. For other jobs in Career Buffs, please follow the application instructions to apply. Some may allow you to submit your resume through Career Buffs, but for most positions you will need to go to the company's website or email your resume directly to a person.

Once the resume submission deadline has been reached, employers review documents submitted and make interview decisions for all candidates. Students are either selected as a preselect (accepted), alternate, or not chosen . Accepted candidates must wait to sign up for an interview until the signup date is reached. Alternate candidates must wait until the alternate date to sign up to see if there are timeslots remaining. You should receive an email (typically two days after the resume submission closes for students) from career@colorado.edu. The email will indicate your selection status and when you can choose a timeslot if you are a 'preselect'. If you do not follow the emailed instructions and sign up for a timeslot in the allotted time period, your spot may be open for alternates to sign up on instead (if the employer has chosen alternates). Be sure to check your email.

If you choose to decline the interview, PLEASE be sure to mark DECLINE in the same spot that you would choose a timeslot in Career Buffs. You are allowed to do this typically up to three days prior to the interviews in the Career Buffs system.

Most interviews are held in Career Services, C4C, third floor. Occasionally, an employer will have interviews in other places - for example the UMC or the Leeds School of Business. Please check the details of your particular interview in the Career Buffs system prior to your interview.

It is customary for students and alumni to send an email or written thank you note immediately following the interview to the recruiter that interviewed them. If you have an interview in the C4C, we keep the business cards of the recruiters at our welcome desk.

If you would like to cancel your interview or change your time slot, you can do so using the system up to three business days in advance of the interview in most cases. After this point, you must call the Career Buffs Help Desk: 303-492-4100. Please review our no show policy for on-campus interviewing for further details.

Companies conducting on-campus interviews may be conducting an Employer Information Session prior to the interviews. Be sure to check the schedule for an employer information session, or look in the CAREER EVENTS section of Career Buffs to make sure you don't miss the opportunity to hear more about the company in an informal setting on-campus!

After your interview on-campus
Many students wonder what happens after the interview; will the company contact them directly with their status?
We leave the follow up process entirely up to each individual employer. If you are wondering, it is okay to ask them this as a final question at the end of your interview, such as: "What's the next step and when can I expect your hiring decision?"
