Career Assessment Series

Would you like help clarifying your career path or academic focus? Career interest assessments are helpful tools in career/academic exploration and planning. An assessment may help determine if your chosen major or field will be a good fit with your interests. In addition career inventories may help fine tune the job search upon graduation or facilitate your ability to find work environments or industries which best match your temperaments, values, interests, strengths, and skills.

Career Assessment Series Options

Several training options are available to meet the diverse needs of the University of Colorado population.

Option 1: Attend a scheduled Group Session(s) this semester

Option 1: Attend a scheduled Group Session(s) this semester

The group format can provide valuable insights not only from the facilitator's certified training experience, but also from the participants, who provide a richness of insight.

Major group objectives:

  • Increase self-understanding and self-awareness in relation to interests, strengths, personality type and values.
  • Encourage an understanding of how career-assessment results can relate to specific careers.
  • Assist in taking a more targeted role in the career planning process.
  • Enhance participant's ability to find work environments or industries which best match the participant's temperament, values, interests and strengths.
You will gain these skills & knowledge:
  • An understanding of what your top five strengths are and how to either use them on the job, in the job search or for exploring good fit majors in school.
  • An understanding of how your interests affect career choices.
  • An understanding of your personality type and how it can factor into making certain careers more attractive and viable.

Option 2: Host a session for your group by building a customized Career Assessment Series

How can assessments help your group/club?

  • Assist individual in understanding themselves and their behaviors
  • Appreciate others so as to make constructive use of differences
  • Approach problems in different yet healthy ways and thus be more productive
  • Leverage individuals' natural strengths
  • Improve teamwork
  • Understand and adapt to differences in leadership

Build your own Career Assessment Series
Pick and choose as you build your own workshop! The approximate time needed to cover each topic is 1 to 1.5 hours, but we can arrange shorter or longer overall workshops to accommodate the needs of your specific group. Each workshop provides participants with:
  • An understanding of the theory behind specific assessments and review of individual reports
  • Experiential exercises to interact with other participants
  • Allows time for questions

Listed below are topic options if you're not sure where to start or suggest a topic that is relevant to your needs.

Choose 1, 2 or 3 assessments (Strengths, SII, DWYA)
  • 1 assessment can be completed in 1-2 hours on one night
  • 2 assessments can be completed in 2 hours on one night OR 1-2 hour sessions for 2 nights
  • 3 assessments can be completed in 2 hour sessions for 2 nights OR 3 nights of 1-2 hours each
