About PIIE
Support In Finding an Internship
For the summer of 2012 the undergraduate students selected for the PIIE program will be able to choose to work at one of our
pre-selected organizations or create their own opportunity with a non-profit and government organizations within the
State of Colorado. A complete list of opportunities for summer 2012 will be given to the top applicants from the general
application process. For more information on where former PIIE students have worked please visit the
"PIIE Frequently Asked Questions" page.
Support During Your Internship
During the summer internship, PIIE Fellows are paired with a PIIE Advisory Board Committee member.
The mentor/mentee program is an important aspect of the PIIE Program, and provides opportunities for learning,
growth, and networking.
Ongoing Benefits After Your Fellowship Ends
Being selected as a PIIE Fellow is an incredible honor, and one that each student takes immense pride in.
PIIE Fellows are involved in the selection process for the next class of Fellows and provide leadership and support for the program.
Upon completion of the internship, PIIE Fellows are expected to help ensure the legacy and impact of the program moving forward by
serving as ambassadors for the program.
Future Direction of the Program
A strategic planning committee was convened in spring 2010 and created a framework for achieving the collective
vision of the PIIE program. Members of this committee identified four key strategic issues, including governance,
marketing, fundraising, and partnerships, and created goals, objectives, and action items for each strategic
issue. The strategic plan will help guide the activities of the program for the next three to five years, at
which time the next strategic planning cycle will begin.
